Joseph P. Griffith
Joe Griffith incorporated the company in 1957 under his name and currently serves as its Chairman.
The family business rapidly grew into one of the largest residential real estate development companies in the Charleston area. As growth continued, Joe diversified the corporate strategy to include commercial real estate and development. Joe has extensive experience in the real estate industry and has been instrumental in the creation of a diverse real estate portfolio through development and investment opportunities.
In addition to his real estate interests, Joe has been involved in numerous business ventures throughout his career, including serving as Chairman of the Board of the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, Pre-Stress Concrete Company, Inc., South Atlantic Dredge Company and First Trident Savings and Loan.
Throughout his career, Joe has been committed to giving back to the Charleston community. He has served on the Board of Directors for numerous civic organizations including the Charleston Symphony, Ronald McDonald House, the Charleston Community Concert Association, the Harbour Club, Educational Television Endowment of South Carolina and Interfaith Crisis Ministry.
Joe has also served as Chairman of the Health Sciences Foundation of the Medical University of South Carolina, Chairman of the Catholic Charities of Charleston, President of the Exchange Club of Charleston, President of the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, and Vice Chairman of the South Carolina State Ports Authority. Joe helped establish Charleston’s first Miracle League baseball park for disabled children, and Joe Griffith Miracle Field is named in his honor.
Joe has been awarded the Order of the Palmetto by former South Carolina Governor Richard Riley, the Malcom D. Haven Award for Selfless Community Giving by the Charleston Community Foundation, and the Catholicity Award from the South Carolina State Council of the Knights of Columbus. In further recognition of his devoted service to the Catholic Church, Joe had the honor of receiving three papal installations: Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Knight of the Order of Saint Gregory, and Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Knight of the Holy Sepcular of the Knight of the Order of Jerusalem.
Joe is a graduate of St. Bernard’s College in Cullman, Alabama. Joe and his late wife Bette have five children and 15 grandchildren.
Louis E. Griffith
Louis Griffith serves as President and Broker in Charge. He began his professional career in the banking industry having been promoted to the position of loan officer with a national banking institution. Upon his return to Charleston, Louis joined the family business as a Sales Associate in 1985.
During his career, Louis has been involved with all aspects of commercial real estate including general brokerage, leasing, site selection and client representation. Through his experience, Louis has provided knowledge of the market and property analysis allowing his clients to achieve their desired goals.
In addition, Louis has performed commercial and residential development services on behalf of the company, clients and for his personal portfolio.
Professional associations include the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Charleston Trident Association of REALTORS (CTAR), South Carolina Association of REALTORS (SCAR) and the National Association of REALTORS (NAR).
Louis graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Finance. He is married with three children and resides in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Stephen A. Griffith
Stephen Griffith serves as Vice-President/Treasurer of Joe Griffith, Inc. He began his real estate career in 1984 as a Sales Associate and was promoted to Sales Manager of the Residential Division.
Between 1996-2000, Stephen worked for two of the leading masonry product manufacturers (Richtex Brick & Metromont Materials) in the southeastern United States. Rejoining the family business in 2000, Stephen supervises office management and accounting for the company. In addition, Stephen is active in the sale, leasing and development of commercial property.
Stephen is a member of various civic and professional organizations including the Charleston Trident Association of REALTORS (CTAR), South Carolina Association of REALTORS (SCAR), National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Stephen graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1984. He is married with three children and resides in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
